Chris Jones BTech (Hons) NPQH FRSA FCCT

Chief Executive of SMARTcurriculum®, Chris Jones has supported schools for over 12 years in curriculum development, budgeting and strategy. Previously a Design Technology teacher and school leader for 25 years he loved capturing student creativity and opportunities to see their ideas develop. Chris is a DfE-approved provider of Integrated Curriculum and Finance planning methodology. In 2018 he created SMARTcurriculum® Analytics, an impressive online tool enabling leaders to assess, analyse and model the efficiency and effectiveness of their curriculum while gaining understanding of resource implications - still championing innovation in design. He is passionate about making systems work; ‘walking the walk, not just talking the talk.’ 

Chris is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Chartered College of Teaching. He has been involved in school governance and charity work for most of his working life. He is currently Chair of the Hallsville Foundation, a 100 year-old charity serving the needs of people in East London; governor of a secondary school; and director of a successful primary MAT in Essex.

His level of expertise is not easily found in the sector at the moment. I would recommend Chris and his team every time.

Diana Jones BEd

Diana has 14 years' experience of teaching GCSE Maths, for both Higher and Foundation levels. She uses this experience to deliver personalised tuition to students.

Nicky McGregor BA (Hons) PGCE

After graduating top of her year in English with Italian from Leicester University, Nicky initially worked in London as an editor for Pan Macmillan. After 5 years she followed her passion and retrained as a primary school teacher, working in London and Kent for nine years and leading literacy for many of those.

Nicky joined SMARTcurriculum® in 2015. She uses her fine eye for detail, communication and project management skills to manage the team and help Chris run the business.

Nicky loves walking, photography, travel and outdoor adventures with her husband and two sons. She is passionate about social equality and has been a trustee of her local refugee support charity for many years.

Rachel Barford

Rachel previously worked as a University Administrative Officer for over 10 years, primarily focused on Quality Assurance and Improvement. She is a trained coach and now uses her well-honed administration, management and communication skills to support clients in their businesses.

As Implementation Manager, Rachel supports all of our SMARTcurriculum® Analytics users with their data management and analysis.

In her spare time Rachel is an amateur silversmith, loves to sing and make music, and can often be found either walking the dog or being taxi driver to one of her four children.

Emily Redmond

Emily joined the team in 2013, having worked in retail for 5 years; the last two in management training. Emily is brilliant with numbers and decided to pursue a career at SMARTcurriculum®, using her talents and qualifications. Emily also privately tutors maths GCSE.

Andrew Fell BSc (Hons), PGSE, PG DipEd, NPQH

Andrew has had 34 years experience in schools, 14 of which as a Secondary Headteacher and over 20 in senior leadership roles. After training and teaching in special schools, Andrew has worked in secondary and primary schools in England and overseas. Andrew has a detailed understanding of school improvement both in terms of his Doctoral work and practical experience across schools and trusts.

Outside of education, Andrew spends his time in the Suffolk countryside, wild swimming, fishing, and with his wonderful family.

Paul Mundy-Castle MEd NPQH

Paul has been a facilitator on the DfE Diversity and Equality programme and has great insight into the issues which can prevent schools from reaching their full potential. He has worked as a senior leader for the high-achieving Harris and ARK Federations and been a systems leader with the Academies Enterprise Trust – one of the largest multi-academy trusts in the UK - where he played a role in removing a financial notice to improve. In 2005 Paul was awarded the distinction of London Teacher of the Year.

A user of and advocate for SMARTcurriculum®, Paul has led financial turnaround in numerous schools while improving educational performance at the same time - placing students at the centre of school improvement. He brings these skills to CJ Learning Ltd, working alongside us to deliver rich curriculum within budget.

Martin Haynes MSc NPQH

Martin has taught science subjects in secondary schools for 33 years with 15 years of senior leadership experience,  including 13 years as a Deputy Headteacher (curriculum).

Martin has an extensive knowledge of curriculum design and timetable construction. He is conscientious with attention to detail and has an ability to build enduring and constructive relationships with fellow professionals.

In his free time, Martin enjoys paddle boarding, fishing, woodturning, golf, walking, travel, reading and his allotment.

Fabulous, Martin is one of my favourite people to work with. He deserves the highest of praises.

Rebecca Arnold, Headteacher

SMARTcurriculum Ltd, incorporated in 2010 (as CJ Learning Ltd),  is a specialist education leadership organisation with a particular specialism in curriculum design and implementation, leadership development, and project delivery. We work nationally with multi-academy trusts, local authorities, diocesan education boards, federations and individual schools, across all phases and school types and internationally with school groups and individual organisations.
